Analeigh Tipton and Cam Gigandet are joining relative unknown Kelly Blatz in indie drama “One Square Mile”, according to Screen Daily. Kim Basinger, Richard Jenkins and Rhys Coiro round out the cast of Canadian helmer Charles-Olivier Michaud’s US film directorial debut.
Blatz will play a poverty-stricken young runner at a junction in his life, who seeks help from a reluctant coach-turned-mentor, played by Jenkins. Basinger will play his mother and Gigandet, his older brother. No word on who Tipton will play, though a love interest would probably be a logical deduction. Blatz takes over for “Twilight” star Cameron Bright, who had initially been cast as the runner. Josh Campbell and Jeff Van Wie wrote the script and filming begins later this month in Seattle.
Blatz, who appeared in horror remake “Prom Night”, is perhaps most known for his lead role on TBS’ short-lived college comedy “Glory Daze.” Tipton is an alum of reality series “America’s Next Top Model” and will next be seen in zombie romance “Warm Bodies.” Gigandet played main villain James in the first “Twilight” and will soon reunite with director Catherine Hardwicke on thriller “Plush.”
