A rather unexpected teaser trailer has debuted online for Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Superman redo “Man of Steel.” Henry Cavill is gruffly bearded and apparently Clark Kent is working, not as an urban reporter at The Daily Planet, but with the crew of The Deadliest Catch on a fishing boat. The trailer is atmospheric, with dreamy, blurry images of rocks, birds, a gloomy seashore and a boy running through fields in a red cape and just one brief glimpse of that iconic image of Superman flying up, up and away.
Two teaser trailers have actually been released, though the images are exactly the same, they differ only in the voice of the narrator. In one, a somber Kevin Costner as Clark’s adoptive father speaks, while Russell Crowe, as Jor-El, the true alien father of Kal-El, gives him a similar message in the other.
“Man of Steel” also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as the villainous General Zod, and recently wrapped up filming. It’s now in post-production and aiming for a release date of June 14th, 2013. Watch the two teaser trailers below.
