Craig Roberts and Imogen Poots are two of Britain’s most talented and exciting rising stars. Roberts signed on to indie drama “I Am My Family Secret” with Emma Roberts earlier this year, as well as premiering “The First Time” at Sundance and stealing the film. Poots has been joining films left, right and centre this year – an adaptation of “Filth” with Jamie Bell, Jimi Hendrix biopic “All Is By My Side”, and another adap, Nick Hornby’s “A Long Way Down” … as well as turning up unexpectedly in Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups” after set photos revealed her casting.
Now we have the first trailer release for the British crime drama they filmed together last year, and early word that the script was “funny, gripping, and full of heart” seem to have been true.
Set during an armed robbery at an exclusive London jeweller, Roberts plays Sam Smith, a hotel concierge who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time after being asked to do a job for a co-worker. Smith and Poots’ store worker end up as hostages in the store along with Timothy Spall (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter series) as the store owner. Kevin McKidd (Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief) stars as the jewellery thief.
The film is set for release this week in the UK. No word on North American dates, but the film was screening for buyers during this year’s Cannes Film Festival so hopefully American readers will get this on the big screen soon.
