It’s probably still too early to tell how successful she’ll be, but British model/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley seems intent on giving this acting thing a real shot. She was hand picked by Michael Bay to take over for Megan Fox in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, but let’s be real. It was a Michael Bay movie, and she had to do little more than look good in a tight dress. Well, perhaps her new role will solidify her ambitions and abilities a bit more. Deadline reports Huntington-Whiteley has been cast in “Mad Max: Fury Road” after auditioning for the part in Australia last month.

Starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy as the new titular Mad Max, the story purports to revolve around a group of five young women known as the Five Wives, who are pursued by a gang of villains in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Teresa Palmer and Zoe Kravitz had previously been linked to roles in the film, presumably also members of the Five Wives, though at least Palmer has fallen out. Palmer’s “Warm Bodies” co-star Nicholas Hoult, too, was linked to the project at one point, but it’s unclear if he’s still on board. After several false starts and plenty of delays, “Mad Max: Fury Road” will (hopefully) finally begin production under the direction of George Miller later this month in Africa.

Huntington-Whiteley beat out fellow model Brooklyn Decker and actresses including Gemma Arterton and Sarah Wright to take the role of Carly, Shia LaBeouf’s new love interest in Bay’s third and final “Transformers” film in 2011, which still remains her sole acting credit to date. She remains active in the modeling world as well, continuing to be featured in campaigns for Victoria’s Secret and Burburry.
