One of my favorite rising actors Scoot McNairy looks set to head towards bigger name recognition as he joins two new high-profile films as leading man – Gus Van Sant’s “Promised Land” and a brand new project from Lynn Shelton, “Touchy Feel”.
After gaining notice for starring in 2010’s “Monsters” and indie favorite “In Search of a Midnight Kiss”, McNairy will be joining Ellen Page in Shelton’s new film. The film has no logline yet and not even Deadline could provide any more information.
Joining McNairy in “Touchy Feely” will be RoseMarie DeWitt, who will also star alongside McNairy, Matt Damon and John Krasinski in Van Sant’s “Promised Land” which she joined earlier this year. Previously described as a “capraesque tale of rival corporate executives”, Deadline is able to provide more details, confirming McNairy’s leading role as his character “leads a group of farmers that stand up when Damon’s character tries to drill on their land.”
McNairy lost out on two big roles last year, in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” and the Tim Burton-produced “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, but he can next be seen in Ben Affleck’s political thriller “Argo” and Andrew Dominik’s Brad Pitt-starrer “Killing Me Softly” (previously “Cogan’s Trade”).
