Martha Marcy May Marlene | Oct 21, 2011 (limited)

Director: Sean Durkin
Writer: Sean Durkin
Cast: Elizabeth Olsen, John Hawkes, Sarah Paulson, Hugh Dancy

What it’s about: Martha is a young woman rapidly unraveling amidst her attempt to reclaim a normal life after fleeing from a cult and its charismatic leader. Seeking help from her estranged older sister Lucy and brother-in-law, Martha is unable and unwilling to reveal the truth about her disappearance. When her memories trigger a chilling paranoia that her former cult could still be pursuing her, the line between Martha’s reality and delusion begins to blur. — Yahoo! Movies

Why we’re excited: A hit at this year Sundance and Cannes, and with one of our favorite up and comers Elizabeth Olsen in the lead, Martha Marcy May Marlene has been described as a film with “nuanced direction … [with a] cast invariably finding multiple shadings in their roles” (THR) and one of “supremely assured quality … film-making” (Screen Daily). With stand out performances by all involved, we’re excited for this film to be released.
