What it’s about: Inspired by personal experiences of screenwriter Will Reiser, “50/50″ is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humor in unlikely places. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis. — Yahoo! Movies

Why we’re excited: Having seen it, we can tell you unequivocally: Get excited about “50/50.” Hilarious, clever and touching, tragic, uplifting all rolled into one. The performances, particularly from Joseph Gordon Levitt, are top notch. You would be hard pressed to find a better grouping of promising young stars, and despite what you might expect given the subject matter, the film doesn’t force over the top tearjerker moments down your throat. Everything, from the relationships to the progression of the story, feels organic. Perhaps that’s because the screenwriter essentially wrote an autobiography of his own journey, to great effect.
