We Bought a Zoo | December 23, 2011

Director: Cameron Crowe
Writer: Cameron Crowe, Alisha McKenna
Cast: Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Elle Fanning, Patrick Fugit

What it’s about: A widower (Matt Damon) purchases a zoo in order to bring his family back together in this Twentieth Century Fox adaptation of Benjamin Mee’s autobiographical memoir. Cameron Crowe (ALMOST FAMOUS) writes and directs based on a script by Aline Brosh McKenna.

Why we’re excited: Big Cameron Crowe fan here. “Say Anything”, “Almost Famous” (modern classics!) and we even liked the critical flop “Elizabethtown.” Crowe does charming, youthful idealism so well, has absolutely fantastic taste in film music, and we can’t wait to see him collaborate with such great young stars as Scarlett Johansson and Elle Fanning. Not to mention the Crowe-Patrick Fugit reunion!
