The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo | Dec 21, 2011

Director: David Fincher
Writer: Steve Zaillian (Screenplay), Stieg Larsson (Book)
Cast: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard

What it’s about: Journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander (Mara), a young computer hacker.

Why we’re excited: An incredible book series by Stieg Larsson. Unimpressive, disappointing Swedish film adaptations. David Fincher, one of the absolute best directors working, particularly in his favorite dark, gritty, murder mystery genre. A strenuous audition process undertaken by Fincher and the studio to find the absolute perfect Lisbeth Salander, one of the most intriguing characters in modern literature, resulting in the casting of Rooney Mara, who gave an awards worthy performance in her six minutes of screentime in Fincher’s “The Social Network.” Trent Reznor’s Oscar-winning chops on music. Every single thing we know about this film thus far makes it one of the most, if not the most, highly anticipated film not just of the fall, but of the year and beyond.
