Despite the absolute hysteria that ensued within “The Mortal Instruments” fanbase earlier this week when it was reported that Alex Pettyfer was in talks to star opposite Lily Collins in the on-screen adaptation of “City of Bones”, the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s popular book series, it seems that Pettyfer may be rejecting the offer in favor of another film. Although Clare, as well as the majority of the series’ fans, regarded Pettyfer to be the perfect actor to portray the Shadowhunter Jace Wayland, according to Vulture, he’s been offered the lead role in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ adaptation of Joseph Delaney’s best-selling YA series “The Last Apprentice.”
“The Last Apprentice” series, known as “The Wardstone Chronicles” in the U.K., is about a teenage boy training to be an exorcist in the 1700s. No other roles have been cast, but an offer has been made to Oscar nominee Jeff Bridges to star as the protagonist’s mentor. Also possibly attached to the project is Jennifer Lawrence, another prevalent name this awards season.
Pettyfer admitted to reading and enjoying Clare’s series, but it’s been reported that he’s an even bigger fan of Delaney’s books. Despite being offered a sweet deal by Screen Gems, it doesn’t look to good for “The Mortal Instruments” fans. Whatever project Pettyfer decides to take in the end, it’s clear that he’s having no problem establishing himself as YA franchise royalty.

seriously if he chooses the other film instead of City of Bones, it WILL be one one the worst choices as an actor possible.
City of bones has such a strong fanbase that support him, along with the director and producers, and cassandra clare! how could he just reject it when it is going to be something that is most likely boost his career by miles.

I haven’t even read The Mortal Instruments and I’m vying for him to play Jace. I really hope he picks the movie with Lily Collins, the other movie can find somebody else. If he picks neither, he would be an amazing Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games!

Can’t he just do all three!!!? Lol, The Mortal Insturments, The Hunger Games (PLEASE) and The Last Apprentice. Haha, I know that’s impossible. :(
I haven’t read the first of those, but I can see him as Peeta 110%. When I was reading the books, the character I had in my mind resembles him so much, not just in looks, but I guess in the way he moves, talks, the aura around him, etc. And as for the Last Apprentice, it’s definately on my list of books to read as soon as I have time. From the character description, he could rock that role as well. If that will be a better option for his career, and he does get it and dol well, than I’ll be happy for him.
Geez, if only the universe worked so that he could’ve not done Beastly and done two of these movies instead :/
