The nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actor Guild awards were announced this morning, and following on from the Golden Globe awards which were announced earlier this week, some of our favourite up and comers have been nominated.

Mila Kunis has, once again, been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category. Kunis is perhaps one of the bigger surprises in this years awards season, as her name had not previously been mentioned in prediction lists. Hailee Steinfeld joins Kunis in this category, finally gaining some recognition for her role in the remake of “True Grit”.

Jennifer Lawrence and Jesse Eisenberg were nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, and Jeremy Renner was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category, perhaps an indication of a second Oscar nomination in two years for him.

Left out of the nominations however were several awards favourites, including Andrew Garfield for his role in The Social Network, and Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams for their roles in the powerful “Blue Valentine”.

Last year the Screen Actor Guild awards successfully predicted 19 out of 20 eventual Oscar winners, will they be as correct this year?
