The suddenly hot David O. Russell, director of The Fighter, is now believed to be taking on The Silver Linings Playbook. The film is based on a Matthew Quick novel about a former high school history teacher who gets out of a mental hospital and is placed in the care of his mother. His goal is to win back his ex wife. But he winds up in a romance with a kooky neighbor who also has mental problems.

Showbiz411 reports that Anne Hathaway is already signed on, and it appears that Bradley Cooper may be close at her heals, joining as the male lead.

Anne Hathaway’s newest projects One Day and the 3-D computer-animated film Rio are both in post production, scheduled for release in spring and summer of next year.
