Speaking of the former Betty Brant! Elizabeth Banks will take the female lead in Alex Kurtzman’s indie drama “Welcome to People”, according to THR. “People” centers around a man who must deliver $150,000 left to an alcoholic sister he didn’t know he had, following the death of their father, getting caught up in the life of her angry 12-year-old son in the process. Banks will play the sister.

A prolific actress who hasn’t quite made a big breakthrough, Banks has starred in “Role Models”, “Definitely, Maybe” and has a recurring arc on NBC’s “30 Rock”. She can currently be seen opposite Russell Crowe in “The Next Three Days” and is in production on “Man on a Ledge” opposite Sam Worthington.

Rumors have linked actors including Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Rachel McAdams and Chris Pine to “Welcome to People”. It remains unclear if any of them are actually involved, as it seems likely Banks has signed on to the role that Adams or McAdams would have taken.
