Poised to showcase one of the best performances of the year and perhaps the performance of James Franco’s career, “127 Hours” tells the gripping true story of hiker Aron Ralston, who became trapped in a canyon when a boulder pinned his arm and rendered him immobile. After 5 days of attempting all forms of escape and grueling uncertainty about whether he would survive, even going so far as to videotape a goodbye message for his family, Ralston made the fateful decision to cut off his own arm in order to escape with his life. The amputation scene in the film is said to be so intense and graphic that audience members have fainted at various screenings. The film belongs to Franco, but also co-stars Kate Mara, Amber Tamblyn, Clemence Poesy and Treat Williams.
A new poster for the Danny Boyle directed Oscar contender has been released, and showcases Franco as Ralston in his trapped moments, overlay with fragments of the life that he left behind. See the full version under the cut.
